Primary - Get to Know You Party

This party served two purposes. It was held in January - this is a perfect time for the primary children "get to know" their new primary teacher. So most of our games focused on being together as a class.

And the 2nd reason for this party - the primary children had worked really work the previous year memorizing all 13 Articles of Faith. If they accomplished this - we told them we'd have an ice cream party with 13 different toppings for their ice cream!

(Side note - decorating anything for primary is easy since our primary colors are RED, YELLOW and BLUE)!













GET TO KNOW YOUR TEACHER RELAY
Each teacher brought 3 items with them that explained a little something about themselves (running shorts - if you are a runner, favorite sport team hat, etc).

Then as a class - we played the dress up relay. The first primary child puts on the 3 items from their teacher and races down to their class chair and races back. Then that person quickly takes off the 3 items and the next person puts it on.

Since it is a primary party - we never have winners or losers. And it makes it perfect for each class to work together and get to know eachother other in a casual environment.














MARSHMALLOW RELAY RACE
Separate the primary children into their primary classes. To make it more fair - the primary children got to hold the plastic spoon carrying the marshmallow in one hand. However, the primary teachers had to hold the spoon in their mouth. Safety first - no running allowed - everyone had to walk.

Marshmallow Gun Birthday Party

This was one of the funnest and easiest "birthday cakes." I think we bought 8 dozen donut holes and the boys had a great time eating as many donuts as they wanted!




I like turning our garage into a party room. That way the entire party can be held outside.





Both Jake and Tyler have had "build a marshmallow gun shooter" birthday party. Devin cut the pvc pipes to the appropriate lengths and then the boys built their gun. We had different colored duct tape for each boy to use and decorate their own gun. For a take home party favor - mini bags of miniature marshmallows so they can continue the fun at home.









The below picture is from a "Bring your own wheels" birthday party. The boys had a great time riding bikes, scooters and skateboards....


Make a hug pot of Hot Cocoa and let the boys top their hot cocoa with whip cream, sprinkles, chocolate chips, mini candy canes and mini marshmallows.

Grandma England's Hash

Grind left over roast and one white onion.

Simmer these two ingredients together for a few minutes to cook onion.

Add left over mashed potatoes and gravy.

Devin likes to serve this for breakfast; topping each serving of hash with a fried egg.

Maressa's Creamed Corn

In a pot, combine and bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes.
20 oz frozen corn
8 oz whipping cream
8 oz milk
1 tsp salt
6 tsp sugar

Blend:
2 TBS melted butter
2 TBS flour

Mix the corn and the butter/flour mixture together.

Transfer to casserole dish.

Sprinkle with parmesan and place under broiler til evenly browned. Watch it closely!

Judy's Broccoli Salad

6 cups broccoli
1 purple onion, chopped
1 cup craisins
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1/2 cups sunflower seeds

Stir together:
2 cups mayo
6 TBS milk
4 TBS sugar
2 tsp lemon juice

Toss with broccoli salad.

Rice Pudding by Grandma Reeve

Mix and microwave on high for 8-10 minutes:

2 cups cooked rice
3 cups milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 TBS tapioca

Mix 3 eggs. Spoon a little hot mixture into eggs. Pour eggs into hot mixture.

Microwave another 4-5 minutes.

Add 1 tsp vanilla.

Wheat Bread by Gina Blake

Makes two loaves of wheat bread.

Dump ingredients into your Kitchen Aid Mixer in the order of the recipe:

3 cups hot water from tap
1/2 cup honey
1/8 cup oil
1/4 cup non-fat dry milk
1 tsp salt
4 cups whole wheat flour
1-1/2 TBS yeast

Mix together.

Add 4 cups white flour.

Knead 10 minutes. Divide into 2 greased bread pans. Cover with towel and let rise for 30 minutes

Bake 350 for 30 minutes.
